BRACES
FIXED BRACES
Fixed appliances consist of metal or ceramic brackets, firmly attached to the surface of the teeth.
A sequence of metallic archwires pass through brackets fixed to them by colored or translucent elastic ligatures. Fixed appliances allow treatment of broad range of orthodontic anomalies. The discreet version of it is fixed appliance with ceramic brackets.
ESTHETIC FIXED APPLIANCE
Are of the same size and shape as conventional fixed appliances, except that they are clear to help make a brace look more invisible. PERFECTOrtho uses a very special clear sapphire brackets. These deliver exceptionally accurate and fast results with features other cosmetic brackets just can’t match. Brackets from sapphire are the clearest brackets available on the market nowadays. Each bracket is created from a single crystal of pure sapphire – one of the hardest materials in nature, second only to diamond. The crystal is honed and heat polished into a remarkably strong and beautiful bracket that is almost invisible on your teeth.
REMOVABLE BRACES
Are used in cases where we try to affect the development and growth of the jaws and facial skeleton. Their main function is to prepare ideal conditions for the eruption of the permanent dentition without rotations or crowding. In most cases further correction of the malocclusion is necessary. However, using removable braces further correction is simplified and speeded up significantly.
1. Crowded, crooked or misplaced teeth
2. Early, late, or irregular loss of baby teeth
3. Protruded teeth
4. Difficulty in chewing or biting
5. Underbite or overbite
6. Mouth breathing, snoring
7. Thumb sucking beyond the age of 5
8. Jaws and teeth that are out of proportion to the rest of face
Typically the first permanent molars are present in the mouth, giving your orthodontist an opportunity to check for a developing malocclusion, also known as a “bad bite.” Incisors have also usually begun to come in and problems such as crowding, deep bites, crossbites and open bites can be detected.
Before permanent teeth have come in, it may be possible to help teeth to erupt (emerge through the gums) into better positions. It’s common, for example, for the dental arch to be too small to fit all of the teeth. A few decades ago, the solution for crowding was almost always to extract some of the permanent teeth to make space. Then fixed braces were used to position the teeth properly.
Early intervention takes advantage of the fact that a child’s jaw is still growing. For example, a device called a palatal expander may be used to expand the child’s upper dental arch. Once the arch is the proper size, there’s a better chance that the adult teeth will emerge in better position. Sometimes teeth still may be crowded after all of them have erupted. In such cases, some permanent teeth may still have to be extracted to make room to align the teeth properly.
If you think your child needs or would benefit from early orthodontic treatment, only a specialist orthodontist has the training, experience and expert knowledge to determine the most appropriate treatment options and the best time to start treatment.
INVISIBLE BRACES
Invisalign® is a removable transparent brace made of very thin plastic that only covers your teeth so it does not affect your speech and does not cause any soreness of your soft tissues because there are no wires.
At the beginning of the treatment the patients obtain their own custom made sequence of translucent braces, that will be changed by them every 10 days. Each brace moves the teeth by 0.2 mm until they reach the correct position. The fact that they are removable leads to better oral hygiene. As to the esthetics, function and comfort Invisalign® undoubtedly is the first choice nowadays.
